2008: • July 28, 2008 - meet with Ethiopian Government officials and appropriate representatives of project areas • Obtain foreign NGO status • Visit land choices, take images and video of possibilities • Establish initial child and community contracts • October, 2008: Collaborative design session in Calgary (large multi-disciplinary 2.5 day design session) • EMI Canada to do initial planning sessions on land proposal 2009: • HOPEthiopia and EMI Canada to survey lands in Ethiopia • Discuss agriculture and reforestation projects with ministries • Discuss children/orphans with child welfare department, and determine orphan selection process • Select Project Director • Interview potential staff for project • Develop church contacts • Develop project management details for homes, agriculture, reforestation, and garden projects 2009-2010: • Build first-three residence homes, consisting of two children’s homes (Age 1-3 years old), and one seniors’ residence home • Each child home consists of 8 children and 1-2 house parents • Each seniors’ home consists of 5 seniors • Drill water wells • Begin solar electric project • Build initial mission/volunteer house • Build roads 2010-2011 • Build three more children’s houses (Age 1-4 years old) • Cluster one completed • Total: 40 children, 5 – 10 seniors, 5-10 house parents 2012: • Build three more homes (Age 1-5 years old) • Build school building • Construct one football field 2013: • Build three more children houses (Age 1-6 years old) • Second housing cluster complete • Total: 80 children, 10 – 20 seniors, 10-20 house parents 2014: • Build three more homes (Age: 1-7 years old) • Build Multi-purpose building 2015: • Build three more children houses (Age: 1-8 years old) • Third cluster complete • Total: 120 children, 15 - 30 seniors, 15-30 house parents • Construct second football field 2016: • Build three more homes (Age: 1-9 years old) 2017: • Build three more children houses (Age: 1-10 years old) • Fourth cluster complete • Total: 160 children, 20 - 40 seniors, 20-40 house parents 2018: • Build three more homes (Age: 1-11 years old) 2019: • Build three more children houses (Age 1-12 years old) • Fifth cluster complete • Total: 200 children, 25 - 50 seniors, 25-50 house parents * With development proceeding at this pace, the first 18 year-old graduates would complete education training at HOPEthiopia in 2025 **With accelerated construction and resource funding the timeline could be significantly shortened.
