The sustainable agriculture project is designed to assist with the self-sustainability of the community project, as well as provide for the surrounding local community. This project is comprised of two main focuses: Gardens: Each home will be equipped with a 150 2 meter garden such that vegetables and fruits could be grown to meet the basic needs of inhabitants. These gardens will encourage the values of cooperation and responsibility, as well as equip individuals with gardening skills. Mixed Farming: A large-scale mixed farming project will be responsible for crop and animal production. Native-Ethiopian cereal crops such as maize, teff and wheat will be considered as staple crops, seed production being an essential component of self-sustainability for each. Mixed livestock farming will also be a focus, and will develop over time depending on the changing needs and available resources.
