Estimates show that in the late 19th century approximately 30of Ethiopia was covered by forest. This number has dropped to a staggering less than 4 Soil erosion has been one of the country's major agricultural problems, with, over the course of many years, deforestation, cultivation of slopes which are not ideally suited to agriculture, and overgrazing being its main contributors. In response, HOPEthiopia will develop a reforestation project that would allow restoration of the land’s natural beauty, and thereby provide a great deal of benefit to the local community.
